Ages:
Pre-Ballet
Pre-Ballet introduces children from ages 4 to 6 to the basic elements of ballet and creative movement. Expression, creativity and imagination are encouraged as students become familiar with music while developing flexibility and coordination.Most importantly, children experience the joy of dance.
Divisions 1 - 5
Divisions 1 through 4 take the student through progressive levels of ballet. Students start in division 1 around the age of seven and generally spend 2-3 years in each division. The focus during the lower divisions is on body placement, technique and the ballet vocabulary of steps. As students progress into the higher divisions the focus transfers to pointe work, timing and stage presence. Pointe work is introduced in Division 3 or higher with teacher approval. Division 5 is for the serious student who has decided to aspire to a career in dance. Students work on timing, presence and perfection of steps in a daily technique class. A strength building pointe class rounds out the week
